Petite, little, little, 5 lb. Joon arrived at the Pet Emergency Center covered in fleas and with a broken leg so gangrenous that it required amputation.

Troy
Troy, who was first named Charlie, became known to BYC when we received a call about a puppy who had been run over by a four-wheeler.
Artemus
Artemus came to BYC when he was only about 13 weeks old and weighed 16 pounds with hips and ribs sticking out everywhere.
Crash
In August of 2004, we were traveling North on I-79. There was a lot of traffic that Friday afternoon when a man ran across two lanes of traffic, scooping up on his way what looked like a little ball of fur.
Grant and Shawn
Shawn and Grant came to Because You Care at about the same time. Both had suffered serious injuries.
Cooper
Cooper, a golden retriever, was rescued as a 10-week old puppy by the brother of a BYC member.
Gracie
The accident occurred several days prior to my visit to meet her. A kind person saw her get hit by a car and immediately took her to the nearest vet.
Lindy Ruff
The Girard police called with a sad report; they had a six-week-old puppy that they needed a BYC representative to pick up from their station because his mother had been hit by a train.
Sawyer
Sawyer, a small, 40-pound lab mix, was rescued from a ditch near the Ohio border in February, unable to climb out on his own.
